When Albance and Ulexco came back after our term holidays, they brought with them an uninvited and unwelcome visitor …SCABIES!

Although we tried out best to contain the spread of this unwelcome visitor, Ah Ken got infected. And now Ah Mei has it too. The four of them are now in our group home in Taman Kinamount as we are afraid the rest of the children will get scabies if we were to bring them to our main campus, Bukit Harapan. We pray that by the end of this week, all four of them will be alright.

A new boy has just joined us. His name is Bren Ekel a.k.a. Ah Peng. He is 10 years old and very adorable. He is short for his age….looks like a 4 or 5 year old.

Birthday/Valentine Party

On February 14, 2006, about 15 Special Person and 4 co-workers attended Datuk DJ Dave’s birthday party at Kinabalu Golf Club. Datuk DJ Dave is a popular veteran singer in Malaysia. The Special Persons and co-workers kept praising him when they came back after the party. According to them, he is very friendly and down to earth. He even fed Li Ken and when he sang a special song for the children, he carried Li Ken who was all smiles.

Apart from giving the Special Persons an ang pow each, he also presented a cheque of RM1,500/= to Bukit Harapan. Thank you Datuk DJ Dave.

Chap Goh Meh

On Sunday night, about 50 of us (Special Persons and co-workers) attending Chap Goh Meh open house at Datuk Robert Tan’s place. The Special Persons really enjoyed themselves watching 4 troupe of lion dances and fire works.

At first, a few of the younger children were scared of the lion dances but after a while, they were sitting up front enjoying themselves. Some of the Special Persons left by 9.30 p.m. as they were tired but most of us left just before midnight. I remember asking who wants to go home but no one responded to my question…..they were having too much fun. We forgot the camera and thus I won’t be able to post any photos of that night.

Anyway, that is all for now….HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!!!!

Hariantau was born on 1st September 1994. He is an orphan. He is mentally handicapped and has slow physical development. Although he is now 12 years old, he looks more like a 7 year old child.

Hariantau a.k.a Antau first came to Bukit Harapan in August 2001. Antau has epilecsy and is on epilectic medication twice a day that is at 6.30 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. on the dot.

Antau does not speak and only responds when his name is called. He does not respond to commands. He is basically a happy child but at times, he will cry for no apparent reason.

Meet Johnlin Andong

Johnlin was born on 7th of November 1984. He came to live with us in Bukit Harapan in 1996. He has epilectic fits. He does not speak but we believe he understands us…when he wants to!

He can feed himself but apart from that, all his other needs has to be taken care of by a co-worker. Johnlin comes from a village near Kudat. His parents are very old and cannot look after him. He is on epilectic medication 3 times a day, at 6.30 a.m., 2.30 p.m. and 10.30 p.m on the dot.

He loves to eat french fries and nuggets.
